  • They Say...

Alcohol Funnycar's full-length debut, Time to Make the Donuts, is a tuneful slice of Minneapolis-derived alternative rock that, while not terribly original, amply demonstrates that songwriter Ben London knows how to craft consistently solid pop hooks. The album is perhaps a bit thin -- two of the ten tracks are short filler, while two more were re-recorded from the band's prior EP, Burn; even though the latter pair are excellent, one might hope for a bit more. Still, on the whole, Time to Make the Donuts displays a band that could easily give the Sponges and Verve Pipes of the late-'90s music world a run for their money.
