  • We Say...

The eight-years-young New West Records, based out of Los Angeles and Austin, specializes in country music. From Drive-By Truckers to Delbert McClinton to Old 97's to the Flatlanders, New West favors dropped g's, open twangs and the hillbilly hiccups of an electric guitar, and this compilation showcases all of them. The best tune by far is Dwight Yoakam's "Three Good Reasons," a not-to-be-missed sly rave-up, and a close second is Nic Armstrong and the Thieves' Nuggets riff "Down Home Girl." Country fans are in for a serious treat.
