  • They Say...

A 1991 recording of Lucier's visionary piece originally created in the late '70s. Using an amplified clock, a skin response sensor, and a digital delay system, Lucier allows the performer of the piece to slow down or speed up time durations on the clock simply by changing their emotional state. The result is a striking piece of conceptual minimalism with elements of dub thrown in, courtesy of the delay system, a process which eventually would find its way into minimalist techno courtesy of German pioneers Basic Channel.
