Fourteen years into their record-making career and a decade after their sole chart appearance, Rex Fowler and Neal Shulman continue to strum their acoustic guitars, share their tenor harmonies, and comment on the modern world in their gentle, folkie way. They pledge their love to MTV VJ Martha Quinn, they pay tribute to Elvis and John Lennon, they make fun of reggae -- they are so uncool! But then, their charm lies in their well-meaning clunkiness, as when, in their big anthem, "Living in America," they salute "the so-called kooks/Known as the anti-nukes," slowing the song down so you can't miss it. Folk idealism is not dead.
