  • They Say...

While the garish cover art of Journey to the Heart, Vol. 4 makes it resemble a charm won out of a supermarket candy machine, the set is still a worthwhile collection of relaxing background music. Like most of the album, Yu-Xiao Guang's "Linden" is inflected with Asian instrumentation, while Kitaro contributes "Dr. Sun & Ching-Ling," which suggests the pastoral quality of a bright new sunrise in its surging horns and plucked harp. While Journey to the Heart seems just as suitable for drinking strong coffee among the fresh morning dew or napping to fading light of a Sunday, it's likely just as effective a soundtrack for your next massage. Warm acoustic guitar figures and contemplative piano abound, and nothing is ever out of step with the album's overall feel, meaning you won't have to skip over faster or more involved tracks.
