Albums in the early '60s were often put out only after an artist had a couple of hits which could be packaged with other tunes. This is what appears to have been the case with Down in the Boondocks, with the album containing the title hit, as well as "I Knew You When," but some of the other songs here showed promise as well. Produced by Joe South, the record is well-worth seeking out.
