  • They Say...

Church of the Devil: A Tribute to King Diamond is another in the long line of heavy metal tribute albums put out by the Dwell label in order to showcase a number of little-known, up-and-coming bands. The results here, as usual, are uneven; some bands just don't have the technical ability or vocal range to match the ambitious original versions. However, some others do a surprisingly good job of pulling them off, and even if they stick pretty close to the originals, it can be interesting (especially for fans) to hear these reproductions underline King Diamond's high musical standards. It also may not be something often revisited, but overall, Church of the Devil is a cut above most Dwell tributes.
