  • They Say...

The first of two "samplers" -- as the cover art describes them -- covering Chrome's career, Having a Wonderful Time with the Tripods is the definite winner for one simple reason -- it's the one covering the Damon Edge/Helios Creed years, rather than the lame Edge-only era. Collecting a reasonable range of Chrome material from the many albums during those years, including such crucial tracks as "You've Been Duplicated," "TV as Eyes," and "Blood on the Moon," Tripods is a reasonable enough single-disc starting point for those totally new to Chrome. Still, there is more of a focus on the accessible attempts at singles than the droning, full-on crazy side, so those wanting to find more of that to start with should look for the Chrome Flashback/Chrome Live collection on Cleopatra.
