  • They Say...

Electric guitarist and ace producer Paul Speer makes a mighty return to the studio on this no-holds-barred rock-fusion opus. From the appearance of a tasty blues harmonica on the first track to the classic tone of a Hammond B-3 organ, this album cooks. Powerful yet subtle vocal arrangements, sans words, are heard on a couple of the more hypnotic pieces. While you might not be able to hum along (the pieces have more rhythmic than melodic structure), you won't find Collection 991: Music + Art overly complex or challenging as you might with an artist like Al Di Meola. Guest appearances by David Lanz and Michael Stearns on most of the pieces and Dick Powell's magical harmonica on two tracks add considerably to this top-notch production.
