  • They Say...

Later compilations have made this obsolete, but it's still a good, no-nonsense, nuts-and-bolts ten-song compilation. It begins with the upbeat, harmonic "Flying High," which is almost guaranteed to pull anyone out of the doldrums. Three of Lionel Richie's best compositions -- "Sail On," "Still," and "Oh No" -- add class to an already spiffy collection that includes a shortened "Zoom"; the hiccupping "You Bring Me Up"; and "Nightshift," their post-Richie tribute to the '60s R&B greats. They add a taste of gospel on Richie's "Jesus Is Love," with the help of Sandra and Andraé Crouch.
