  • They Say...

Arista celebrated its 30th anniversary by releasing The Heritage Series, spotlighting the most popular artists on the label. The Hall & Oates installment in The Heritage Series is pretty much a straight hits collection, featuring highlights from their stint at the label. Since they arrived on Arista after their peak years at RCA, their biggest hits aren't here, but this does function as a nice supplement to Rock N Soul, Pt. 1, containing such latter-day hits as "Everything Your Heart Desires," "So Close," "Starting All Over Again," and "Change of Season." The remaining 11 songs don't quite meet the standards of the singles, nor are they as good as their RCA also-rans, but this is an excellent, concise portrait of Hall & Oates' Arista years.
