  • They Say...

Volume Two of Best of Fury Psychobilly begins appropriately with Os Catalepticos' ripping, barely-in-check "Psychobilly Is All Around." The track's throttling good time and dangerous undertones are perfect for a genre just as enamored of rock & roll traditionalism as it is of punk rock venom and slop. Pharaohs know this; their "Psycho Numbskull" roils with a similar disregard for tact -- it's like the Revelators covering Wanda Jackson. Pretty Grim's two tracks uphold the case for atrocious fidelity, but behind the hiss they're pretty damn good. The more "'billy," less "psycho" side of things is represented by the Gotham Katz' "Evil Girl" and Something Shocking's "Love is Blind," but there's always a little horror rock from the likes of Coffin Nails, with the subtle "Werewolf Bitch," to even things out.
