  • They Say...

This 1994 CD is comprised of a previously unreleased trio set by pianist Earl Hines, recorded during a European tour. The music is actually fairly average for Hines at the time, but that means that for most other pianists, it would be considered wondrous. Given steady support by bassist Morten Hansen and drummer Jorgen Kureer, Hines runs through his usual repertoire, including three medleys (one of which is comprised of Fats Waller-associated songs), "Perdido," "Black Coffee," and Hines' long showcase on "Boogie Woogie on St. Louis Blues." Enjoyable music, if not essential.
