It's doubtful that many bands have emerged as fully realized on their debut release as New York City's Longwave, as their heavenly arrangements, taking sweet chord changes and driving guitars and wrapping them in sophisticated airy textures, belie the fact that they had been together less than a year when they recorded Endsongs. Strongly melodic and quite catchy, the songs are expansive but concise, recalling pre-Ok Computer Radiohead on tracks like "Best Kept Secret" and "Ending," with guitars that are alternately abrasive and softly tangible. Still, occasional guitar eruptions expertly disrupt the generally serene nature of the production, adding an adventurous edge to their highly accessible streamlined sound. In short, an absolute triumph in sonic precision.
