  • They Say...

This Cincinnati outfit follows up their 2007 debut, the Two Eyes EP, with this long platter. Most of the well-titled Everything Is Alive was recorded live in the studio in Richmond, VA. Singers Joey Cook and Isaac Karns trade vocals with the looseness of Superchunk, and mix up chiming and noodling guitars in support of snatches of fuzzy pink melodies that appear almost haphazardly. And when they do have a top tune, such as the hummable "Whom/Who" and "The Bellhop," or the surprisingly Cramps-like fuzz-swamp-stomp of the jealous-suspicious "Late Night Television," they point the way to further maturity.
