  • They Say...

Masterpiece is divided between new songs and re-recordings of some classic Freddie McGregor songs (including "Homeward Bound," "Mark of the Beast"), but the big news is how the album sonically captures the rootsy, organic feel of classic '70s reggae without sacrificing contemporary sensibility. Fortunately, there's very little silly dancehall posturing on the record -- the bulk of Masterpiece is straightahead lover rock and classic reggae, delivered with passion and conviction by McGregor.
