One man indiepopster does it again.

  • We Say...

From Bubblegum to Sky is a one man show: Mario Hernadez, a half Japanese, half Mexican popster, wrote every note and plays every instrument on this chunky indie pop gem. Hernadez wraps his nasal croon around a bevy of bouncy guitars, tambo shakes and shimmying drums. A Soft Kill somehow manages to be both a party and and a headphones record; a lo-fi jaunt through the various shards of '60s guitar pop (think early Of Montreal). There's plenty to love here, but start with the slinky acoustic n' fuzz romp of "Guest Relations" and late-album highlight "Even the Sunbeams," whose relentless bounce is centered around a gloriously bubbly keyboard line.
