  • They Say...

With subject matter somehow outdoing both the performances and recording quality in terms of crudeness (no mean feat), Freaks, Faggots, Drunks & Junkies may be the definitive G.G. Allin album, if for no other reason than that it marks the first appearance of many Allin songs that have since been endlessly repackaged on compilations and live recordings. Allin jumps unpredictably from discussions of drugs, violence, and excretory functions to sexual fetishes ranging from the simply degrading to rape, pedophilia, and "anti social masterbation" [sic]. Most intentionally shocking stuff like this comes off as forced and stupid, but the defective Allin's obvious instability renders it unforced and stupid. Tunes like "Die When You Die," "Last in Line for the Gang Bang," "Young Little Meat," "Suck My Ass It Smells," and signature song "Outlaw Scumfuc" are enough to shake anyone's faith in humanity down to its very foundations. Allin's entire output ranks as perhaps the worst music ever recorded; this is its clearest expression.
