  • They Say...

Greatest hits remixed -- certainly not a new or novel concept, but being that Gary Numan's work is known for being experimental, The Mix is not such a bad idea. If you're a Numan fan, these songs are old standards, but given a new, invigorating mix, they manage to sound current. When it works, such as on "Are Friends Electric" [Leather Strap Mix], "We Are So Fragile" [LCD Mix], and "A Question of Faith" [Anubian Lights Mix], it creates a mix that stands on its own, leaving the original version behind as the songs succumb to the joy of experimenting with the sound. There are, of course, one too many versions of "Cars" (three total), and some of the more derivative mixes become a bit too clubby and cloying with repetitive beats. Fortunately, they are few and far between. For the most part, The Mix is a great collection of remixed versions of memorable songs.
