This is a really cute, ultra-giddy, three-song collection of minimal indie pop that's fronted by a formula of Casio synthesizers, delicate drum machines, and occasional Beach Boy-like harmonies. Ahead of the Race may only be seven minutes and four seconds long, but Helen Love manages to quickly let out some of the most charming pop this side of Heavenly -- except a lot more stripped down.
