  • They Say...

Used to be that any Gary Numan compilation not on Beggars Banquet padded its late-period non-hits with live versions of early-period big hits. Since Numan has recently re-recorded some of the old hits, Here in My Car is a mix of live and re-recorded old hits and "hardcore fans only" new tracks. The darker re-recordings of "Metal" and "Down in the Park" come from the Dominion Day EP, but almost everything else has shown up before on the cash-in comps. The studio albums Exile, Berserker, and Sacrifice get one or two tracks each, while the live albums White Noise and Live Dark Light account for the rest of the material. The liner notes are better than expected, but newcomers should stick with a Beggars Banquet collection.
