  • They Say...

Egyptian-born percussionist Ramzy releases a lot of albums, but the Sabla Tolo series seems special to him. Subtitled "advanced journeys into pure Egyptian percussion" with "rhythmic illusions unveiled," the third in this series follows the template of the other two. It really is purely percussion, with only Ramzy playing everything, and it's aimed purely at percussionists, with each track carefully laid out in the extensive booklet, all the changes explained and also laid out in notation. As such it's not an album to be listened to purely for pleasure, but an instructional item.
