  • They Say...

The World Brotherhood Choir, directed by Joseph Ferraro, chants devotional texts in English, but in the repeated format of an Indian mantra. "God is life, God is joy, Life is God, Life is joy," are the lyrics for all the "identical" a cappella choral pieces. Between the mantras are organ interludes (played by David Miller) offering variations on the same melody. This recording may be more acceptable to those who are not comfortable with the Sanskrit mantras (hear Walters' album Mantra), but to my ear, Walters' English choral chant is not nearly as compelling, and the repetitions sound static rather than sacred.
