Likeable, geeky, distinctly Midwestern comic rails against Hot Pockets.

  • We Say...

"I'm the opposite of ethnic," Gaffigan announces at the top of his set. "Some people look Italian — I look anti-Semitic." The unassuming, pale-faced comic is a veteran of TV flops, but he is increasingly in demand as a stand-up. This is no surprise: Gaffigan is likeable and geeky, shunning the rage that fuels many of his peers for a distinctly Midwest affability. Indeed, the album's most discussed routine doesn't find Gaffigan railing against political hypocrisy or family frustrations, but rather against Hot Pockets. He does look anti-Semitic, though.
