  • They Say...

The Rolling Stones: This Ain't No Tribute Series -- All Blues'd Up! is a collection of songs either written or made famous by the Rolling Stones. Starting with a fantastic run-through of "You Can't Always Get What You Want" by Luther Allison, the album is an energetic and bright collection of good blues. Where other volumes in this series have failed because they haven't captured the emotion and power behind the artists to whom they were paying tribute, this volume does a good job of latching on to the sleazy and dirty vibe the band was so good at cultivating. The album is missing the brash bravado of the original renditions, but what is loses in confrontation it gains in greasy, unwashed rowdiness. The production is rather glossy, but the attitude of contributors like Junior Wells and Luther Allison makes this a fun recommendation for fans of the band or the genre.
