All cut in Detroit at United Sound and assorted backroom "studios" for Bernie Bessman and Joe Von Battle between 1948-1954, the lineup features Hooker's original hits "Boogie Chillen," "Crawling Kingsnake," "I'm in the Mood," "Drifting from Door to Door," "Queen Bee," and "Howlin' Wolf." With a generous 24 tracks in all, this also features the best sound restoration you could possibly ask for and for once, the correct takes of everything! No, Carlos Santana and Sting aren't on here as guests, but believe me, if you're just starting up your John Lee Hooker collection, this is not only the perfect introduction, but an essential piece to building the perfect blues collection as well.
