  • We Say...

Kevin Kern calls his music “sound-paintings,” which is as probably as good a description as any. But it makes sense to dig deeper. More accurately, Kern’s New Age piano playing is like late-period Monet — when viewed from a distance, they’re beautiful and ethereal; when examined up-close, they’re gauzy and indistinct. Kern admits as much, claiming on his website that “my vision lacks the crisp detail that others may have,” but he immediately counters with an important point: “I have learned to describe what I see through my music.” Audiences have connected with that tranquil vision. In the Enchanted Garden spent 26 weeks on the Billboard charts and the album vaulted him into the upper echelon of solo New Age performers.
