They Say...
A tidy package of Kid606 lunacy, Die Soundoy Die may be listed as an EP, but its 45 minutes of runtime makes it just as long as any Seals & Crofts LP from the '70s. Although stylistically, it's just as varied as fans would expect -- including nods to darkwave jungle, experimental techno, electro-techno, even the odd rave soundbyte -- it's not an especially frenetic record. Unlike many of his contemporaries (Squarepusher being the most obvious), Kid606 can float along without resorting to obvious signs that a detour is ahead. That makes for a much more listenable record, one you can return to again, even after repeated listening.
“ The indie iTunes — Hardcore music fans are migrating to eMusic, the iTunes Music Store's cheaper, cooler cousin.”
