Find out why the Beatles saw fit to cover three of this forgotten bluesman’s tunes.

We Say...
The Beatles covered no less than three of his songs ("Dizzy Miss Lizzy," "Bad Boy" and "Slow Down") but somehow New Orleans shouter Larry Williams remains a marginal figure in rock & roll history. Often criticized for sounding like Little Richard, Williams was nevertheless an astute judge of hit potential, an impressive vocal stylist and a superior craftsman, able to replicate anything from a Fats Domino slouch to a Leiber and Stoller comedy production. Little Richard himself was sufficiently impressed to cover Williams’ "Bony Moronie" and "Short Fat Fanny," both included here. When he did material by other writers, such as Huey "Piano" Smith’s "Rockin’ Pneumonia and the Boogie Woogie Flu," his idiosyncratic delivery made them easily the equal of their original versions.

They Say...
Bad Boy compiles 23 tracks Larry Williams recorded between 1957 and 1958. The core of the collection are his hit singles -- "Bony Maronie," "She Said Yeah," "Lawdy Miss Clawdy," "Just Because," "Dizzy Miss Lizzy," "Short Fat Fannie," "Bad Boy," "Slow Down" -- many of which became standards.
