They Say...
The falsetto vocals on the introductory "No Hard Feelings" are sincere, and when added to a credible supporting cast, should lead to a very good hard rock and emotional pop album in the vein of uplifting arena rock bands such as Our Lady Peace and Live, but with a subtle somber aura. The vocals, which are shared by bassist Mike Zeis and guitarist Roger Bryan, dominate the album over some very qualitative arrangements, particularly the slow-building "Out of Nowhere." More melodic pop songs include the winding "Reason Enough," which resembles a possible Def Leppard influence in its guitar solos. This is also true in the anthemic ballad "Run Amy Run." When the band opts for a slower blues in "Apology King," they miss the mark completely. Another aspect going against the band is how the tracks could be mistaken for others within, a result of the common yet friendly and appealing framework. "Stiff in the Rack" lacks the hard rock punch, but makes up for it with a memorable melody. The only forgettable song is the lullaby "Darling Fever."
