Lonnie Brooks simmers and shakes on this explosive live set.

  • We Say...

Since Lonnie Brooks’s shows are mostly about getting down, Live from Chicago breaks out of the blocks with “Two Headed Man,” on which he threatens mojo hands and black cat bones while bending guitar strings until they shriek. The set serves up several more concert staples before turning positively icy with “Cold Lonely Nights.” Then the star boogies and chicken-picks through Freddy King’s “Hideaway” with meteor-like speed and heat that leaves the audience panting for breath.
