  • They Say...

Incognegro marks the album debut of Ludacris, who had previously had been featured on Timbaland's "Fat Rabbit" from Tim's Bio (1998). Independently released, the album features most of the songs that would be repackaged by Def Jam for release as Back for the First Time, including the breakthrough hit "What's Your Fantasy?" Of the two albums, Back for the First Time is the more reasonable choice, not only because it's readily available, but also because it includes highlights not found here: the Neptunes-produced hit single "Southern Hospitality," the previously released Timbaland production "Phat Rabbit," the U.G.K.-featuring "Stick 'Em Up," and a provocative remix of "What's Your Fantasy?" featuring Trina and Foxy Brown. Nonetheless, Incognegro is a remarkable album debut, all the more so because it was recorded and released independently.
