We Say...
It’s been a long road for Martin Sexton. From his beginnings as a street performer, Sexton has had to earn every single fan that has come to a live show or purchased one of his six self-released studio albums. His seventh, Seeds, contains a great deal of the sort of classic roots music that he’s made his name on, but there are plenty of surprises too. Check the gospel choir on “Wild Angels” made up entirely of Sexton’s voice or the defiant “I'm Here.” Or even the seemingly normal “Marry Me,” which turns into Frampton Comes Alive! for an exhilarating chorus. While Sexton has continually gotten more experimental in the studio each time out, his recorded work is no match for the aforementioned concerts. So, when faced with an either/or, pick both. After all, you’re going to want to relive that concert somehow — and Seeds may just be his best studio effort yet.
