  • They Say...

"Dog Days," one of the most thrilling dance singles of 2003, appears on this 12" in a slightly extended format (it's just a few seconds longer than the version on Leave Luck to Heaven), and it's also "interpreted" by Pantytec. The Perlon duo does away with the hopped-up jitter of the original mix, smoothing it out ever so slightly to accentuate the softened bass-drum pattern. Dear's vocals are unsurprisingly phased into cut-up gibberish, and a discreet keyboard melody is introduced to fill up some of the open space. Excellent. A 30-second a cappella version is included on the B-side as well. [Spectral Sound issued a remixed version of the album (Dog Days: The Robsoul Remixes) in 2008.]
