  • They Say...

Much like his friend and creative collaborator Baby Ford, Thomas Melchior has constructed an album of warm, minimal techno dressed up in super chic Europop stylings. Frantic basslines and shuffle beats with repetitive loops reminiscent of productions found in Mike Ink's outstanding Studio 1 series, but with more influence drawn from early house records than from harder techno. Melchior's sense of melody is also urgently frantic and reminiscent of fellow house producer Akufen, especially on the album's opener "Que Pasa," and the album's showcase track, "Over the Rise." A strong debut, and hopefully a sign of good things to come.
