They Say...
The music on this quartet date (which features vibraphonist Milt Jackson, pianist Horace Silver, bassist Percy Heath and drummer Connie Kay) is excellent but the playing time (31 minutes) is pretty disgraceful, particularly when one considers that Jackson did a lot of recording for Prestige; certainly more selections could have been added to make this CD have a decent amount of music. Even the old two-LP set Opus De Funk added four selections to the album containing this otherwise enjoyable straightahead set. Quantity aside, Bags and Silver make for a good combination on five standards and Jackson's "Stonewall."
