  • They Say...

A hodgepodge package, Compost Community ties together a dozen previously released and previously unreleased tracks from one of the most visible labels in what many refer to as future jazz or jazz-house. The curious who find Compost 100 to be a bit too daunting an introduction to the label would be better served by this package. Though flagship act Jazzanova is absent, there are a few highlights, including the As One/Nubian Mindz-like breakbeat techno of Native Force's "Music Box" and the pleasant jazzy downtempo of A Forest Mighty Black's "Sunday City Sequence." Those who treasure their Future Sound of Jazz and Glücklich comps will find much to love, but others will likely be put off by the polite smoothness inherent in many of these productions.
