  • They Say...

In accordance with their critically acclaimed Future Sound of Jazz series and their ambitious Fueled for the Future mix series, Compost Records released Dig It somewhere in-between. Dig It compiles some of the label's signature songs from their stable artists and gives the disc a unique spin: the majority of these songs are either alternate unreleased mixes or versions that have been issued here for the first time on compact disc. Contributions from label stars Rainer Trüby, Kyoto Jazz Massive, and Victor Davies all lead the way, but each of the tracks shines in its own unique way. The blending of Latin, world rhythms, jazz, and broken beat is a difficult task to accomplish correctly, and Dig It proves that Compost have more than enough talent to prove themselves worthy of the task. While not as ambitious in scope as Fueled for the Future, this is an excellent starting point for anyone looking to get an accurate survey of Compost's signature downbeat jazz stylings.
