  • They Say...

Even if the name Acid House Kings still causes confusion regarding the choice of musical style (this is far from acid house), the band still has an astute sense of indie pop songcraft. In fact, on Mondays Are Like Tuesdays, there's a recognizable comparison to Belle & Sebastian's gentle chamber pop. The band -- this time around the trio of Johan and Niklas Angergard and Julia Lannerheim -- shines with its boy-girl vocals, sugary lyrics, and "ba da da das." Songs such as "Start Anew" and "Brown and Beige Are My Favourite Colours" have all the innocence and spirit of lovable twee. Just take the cutesy lyrics from the latter: "This is the first day of spring, but I can't wait until summer/Then you will be here in my arms, dressing up for the season." This third full-length from Acid House Kings is yet more proof of the emerging, Swedish indie pop scene.
