  • They Say...

Coming at the listener like a musical cyclone, Shakuhachi Surprise manages to attack with repeated guitar riffs that wear you down mentally. Some of the music creates a video game soundtrack, where the pace and the screams conjure up thoughts of monsters riding supercharged mopeds ("Shacho"). Other songs range from the singers sounding like they're convulsing uncontrollably after a bad plate of sushi to metallic dances where ballet shoes equipped with cleats have burrowed into your head. For those with sugar addiction or hypertension, this is a good album to jump up and down to in a blinding fit of rage. However, if you aren't accustomed to this type of music, you'll most likely want to take the CD and use it for skeet-shooting practice.
