  • They Say...

The fourth in the ongoing Eastern Conference All-Stars series reasserts the primacy of the High & Mighty on their own Eastern Conference label: besides the usual intro and outro tracks, Mr. Eon and DJ Mighty MI offer two of the best songs on the album, "The Move" and "Key Master." (In fact, the latter, with its woozy clavinet-based groove and Mr. Eon's aggressive, word-spitting flow, is one of the strongest tracks in the entire series.) The guest list tends to the deep underground, with an appearance by Guru on the foreboding "The Best" being the highest-profile cameo. As on Eastern Conference All-Stars, Vol. 3, Ohio-based rapper Copywrite steals the show, both on his solo spotlight "H.B.T." and his verses in the group showcase "Weatherwhatevermen." This edition of the series comes with a bonus DVD featuring appearances by Mos Def, the Smut Peddlers, and, in a hilarious cameo, actor Michael Rapaport.
