  • We Say...

Best known for the scores he wrote for Fellini movies, Nino Rota always displayed a strong sense of whimsy in his music. And so it somehow makes sense to check out his work for an outright comedy such as Shoot Loud, Louder... I Don't Understand (Spara Forte, Piú Forte... Non Capisco). This kitschy 1966 farce stars Marcello Mastroianni and Raquel Welch (together at last!) but the real corker is Rota's score, by turns jaunty and deliberately off-kilter — check out the Theremin on "Alberto and Raquel."
