A magnificent recording of two of the finest young singers that regularly perform Baroque music.

We Say...
This is a magnificent recording of two of the most engaging of the younger generation of British singers who regularly perform Baroque music (Robin Blaze and Carolyn Sampson). These duets from Handel’s oratorios reveal just what a genius he was in creating mood and situation, often of the most exquisite intensity. The two numbers from Theodora, in which the doomed lovers sing to each other, are incredibly moving, as is the forgiveness duet from Esther. Blaze and Sampson have voices that not only have great individuality but also blend beautifully — and they are both intelligent enough singers that they also appear in harmony of approach too. Nicholas Kraemer and the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment accompany with sensitivity and warmth, adding to the considerable allure of this fine programme.
