  • They Say...

As a predecessor to Face to Face's breakthrough album Big Choice, Over It possesses a raw intensity that hints at what's to come. The six-song EP even features an early version of the band's KROQ hit "Disconnected." While not as mature as later efforts, the band's sound still comes through loud and strong with frustrated, disillusioned lyrics; energetic guitar and pounding bass. The opening track "I Want" sets the mood for the EP with its slow intro that's broken by vocalist Trever Keith's screech "I want!" followed by a tight, ricocheting hook. But it's two strong middle tracks, "Disconnected" and "I Used to Think," that stand out as the backbone of the EP. "Disconnected" may be a rawer, less polished version than the one that appears on Big Choice, but the power and catchiness are still there. "I Used to Think" starts with a thumping intro that builds to the chorus "I used to think that things were going to be okay/Never wanted a thing to be another way." The band stretches out the last word "way" for a couple notes until Keith takes over with his stuttering vocal delivery. You almost can't help but sing along.
