We Say...
Passenger's Wicked Man's Rest is more than just a collection of mellowed out, soft-spoken Brit-rock; it's also a remarkable exercise in poetic storytelling. Light instrumentals serve as the counterpoint to continuously dark and gloomy lyrics, and prove that less is more. "Things You've Never Done" tells the dismal tale of a man who never takes any chances with lightly rolling chords and a simple rhyme scheme. Even when the music picks up the pace, as it does on "Needle in the Dark" and "Do What You Like," lead singer Mike Rosenberg's vocals remain gentle and consistent as they hammer home their ominous point.
