  • We Say...

In Keith Harris' User's Guide to the Old Town School of Folk Music, he quoted Bob Medich — the producer of the series — as saying after the completion of volume three, "We didn't get to all of them [the tunes in the school's Songbook] — we’d have to do another CD…and that would mean I would have to jump off the Michigan Avenue Bridge." Hopefully Medich is OK, because this release marks the fourth volume in the excellent series, another collection of interpretations of the Old Town School's folk classics. This edition is no different than the previous: there are a few "names" — John Prine, Andrew Bird and Steve Goodman to name but three — but the best work here is done by virtual unknowns. That's why you should dig deep and often. You never know what you might just find.
