Originally released in 2002 only through her website (www.misspattipage.com) and reissued to retail by DRG in 2003, Patti Page's Sweet Sounds of Christmas responds to fan requests for a new holiday album. In her seventies, Page retains her distinctive vocal style on a fool-proof selection of songs that runs heavily to holiday standards: "Jingle Bells," "White Christmas," "Silent Night," "Santa Claus Is Coming to Town," "The Christmas Song," etc. The accompaniment is trimmed to a few performers, allowing Page to dominate the proceedings. Fans will be delighted (and others at least amused) by the inclusion of a remake of "I Wanna Go Skating With Willie," a song Page first recorded in 1954.
