  • We Say...

The mad scientist of ambient meets the veteran of experimental dub on this cool and spacey Fax label offering. Pete Namlook has collaborated with scores of other musicians, ranging from German synthlord Klaus Schulze to Turkish percussionist Burhan Öçal. On Re:sonate he meets his match when Gaudi's dubby, muscular grooves get paired up with Namlook's array of analog synths. It works perfectly as each one adds their special touch to the soaring, spatial canvas of sound. On "The 7th Spirit" they get warmed up with an airy dub workout that clocks in at a modest 17 minutes. "NAFK" is yet another space epic in true Namlook fashion, eventually taking on an eastern vibe as sampled doumbeks gently propel the piece towards its radiant climax. The duo crank up the dub machine on the final track, "The Sun Won't Set." Its undulating, spacey and groove-centric glory, brings out both composers' best elements.
