Two Germans, one Moog, endless possibilities.

  • We Say...

Between 1994-2005, Pete Namlook indulged his Moog fetish over ten albums with Tangerine Dream/Ash Ra Tempel founder Klaus Schulze. Volume 2 is the recommended entrance point to an occasionally patchy series. Playfully referencing the early '70s abstract odysseys of Pink Floyd, the 12-movement “A Saucerful of Ambience” throws a clangourous cathedral bell, insectoid chitterings and occasional 4/4 beats into its slow-roasting mix.

  • They Say...

The second in the series of Namlook/Schulze collaborations, The Dark Side of the Moog 2 consists of the hour-long track "A Saucerful of Ambience" (the entire series includes Pink Floyd references). As on the first, the music is beatless space music (minus the tremendous feelings of depth on most of Schulze's works), though artificial effects similar to bird calls and faraway bells punctuate the mix continually.
