  • We Say...

One of the most awesome technicians of the modern era, Pass's guitar playing is staggering in an unaccompanied solo context (as on Pablo's four-volume Virtuoso series). Accompanied by the great bassist Ray Brown and drummer Bobby Durham, Pass shines in a heartfelt tribute to the Duke a month after his passing. And as always, the guitarist's command of the material is masterful — swinging and bluesy on up-tempo romps, lushly voiced and sublimely delivered on ballads.
